Important information Goulburn Base Hospital prepares to open new Clinical Services Building

Staff and services to be accommodated within the new $165 million Clinical Services Building have started moving in and will open to patients and the community from Tuesday 23 November 2021. The new Clinical Services Building is being delivered as part of the $165 million Goulburn Base Hospital and Health Service Redevelopment.

As a result, the community is advised of some important access and information changes at Goulburn Base Hospital in the coming weeks.

These changes include how to access the Emergency Department, how to access the Main Entrance and reception, where to park, and changes to driveway entrances and exits, all of which are vital in ensuring pedestrian and road safety in and around the hospital.
 

People are advised to take extra care, drive slowly, and take notice of all signage, barriers and directions as they approach and enter the hospital.

From 5:00am on Tuesday 23 November 2021, entry is via the Emergency car park on Goldsmith Street, past the roundabout and Community Health.

The new Emergency Department in the new Clinical Services Building will open from 5:00am on Tuesday 23 November 2021.

  • Entry is via the Emergency car park on Goldsmith Street, past the roundabout and Community Health.

Birthing women are advised from 4:00pm onwards on Wednesday 24 November 2021 to come to the new Clinical Services Building.

  • Entry is via the Emergency car park on Goldsmith Street, past the roundabout and Community Health

Patient drop off and pick up zones

  • Please follow the signs to access this area.
  • The semi-circle, adjacent to the COVID screening clinic, will be temporarily closed to all patients, staff and visitors, except on-call Visiting Medical Officers while further redevelopment work in this area is completed.

Car park

  • The new Emergency car park will be available for Emergency and Medical
  • Imaging parking once the new Clinical Services Building opens. The car
  • park can be accessed via Goldsmith Street, past the roundabout and
  • Community Health Building. Dedicated disability and mobility parking
  • spaces are available in the Emergency car park. Parking time limits are in
  • place and will be monitored.
  • Contractors working on site as part of the redevelopment will continue to
  • park in the project car park at the corner of Mount and Fitzroy Streets.

Temporary entrance arrangements from November 2021
 To access the Ground Level Main Entrance:

  1. Enter via the Lower Ground Emergency public entrance and take the public lift or central stair to Ground Level reception or inpatient units, OR
  2. Take the external concrete and decorated steel staircase from the Emergency car park up to the Main Entrance.

New driveway entrances and exits

  • Please take extra care, be considerate and watch out for pedestrians and other vehicles.
  • There are a number of new driveway entrances and exits, including
    • Goldsmith Street:
      • Entry and exit to the new Emergency car park (Augustine Matthew Betts) - just past the roundabout and Community Health.
    • Faithfull Street:
      • Dedicated ambulance, police, corrections and patient transport vehicles entry and exit.
      • Entrance and exit for new fleet car park (Russell Edward Connolley).
      • New service road to exit from the internal loading dock which supports the Clinical Services Building.

New shared pedestrian and vehicle zones

  • There are a number of new shared pedestrian and vehicle zones across the hospital campus. Please take extra care, be considerate and watch out for pedestrians and other vehicles.

Temporary closures and changes to pedestrian access
Work to complete the redevelopment will continue across the Goulburn Base Hospital site. This work may result is temporary changes to access and movement around the hospital.

Please pay attention to all signage and take extra care. If you need help, please contact the hospital or see the guides in the Main Entrance foyer.

There are still works underway as the Goulburn Hospital and Health Service Redevelopment team begin the Final Works stage. This will see the Redevelopment Work Zone move to Albert Street and we will continue to keep the community updated as work progresses.
