Construction completed on new Goulburn Clinical Training Facility
Construction completed on new Goulburn Clinical Training Facility
Construction of The Australian National University’s (ANU) Clinical Training Facility at Goulburn Base Hospital has been completed, with the facility handed over to the University.
Funded by the Australian Government, the ANU Clinical Training Facility was delivered by Health Infrastructure in close collaboration with staff from the ANU Rural Clinical School and Southern NSW Local Health District.
The $10.5 million Clinical Training Facility has been built alongside the $165 million Goulburn Hospital and Health Service Redevelopment, which is delivering a modern, fit-for-purpose facility for the Goulburn community.
Health Infrastructure Executive Director, Rural and Regional Amanda Bock said the new, purpose-built two-storey building will provide medical and other health professional students with a state-of-the art training facility at Goulburn Base Hospital.
“Health Infrastructure is proud to deliver this new training facility for ANU medical students here in Goulburn, that will also be shared with Goulburn Base Hospital medical, nursing and allied health staff for education and training,” Ms Bock said.
The completed ANU Clinical Training Facility includes:
A simulation room replicating a real hospital environment
Clinical skills rooms
Tutorial rooms
An auditorium and meeting rooms
Medical student study and common room spaces
ANU staff office, workspaces, and staff room
Local Health District Clinical Nurse Educators office space
Clinical Library
Storage spaces
The facility will also be used to deliver collaborative interdisciplinary training for nursing and allied health students from the University of Canberra and other institutions in the region.
The facility is expected to begin operating in early 2024 after staff move-in activities are completed. Work on the Goulburn Hospital and Health Service Redevelopment is continuing, and is scheduled for final completion in mid-2024.
