Local Goulburn photographers are reminded to submit their entries to the Goulburn Hospital and Health Service Redevelopment’s photographic competition closing soon on Friday 30 October.

The winning photos will be featured in the new health facility and showcase local creative talent while also delivering therapeutic benefits for patients, visitors and staff.

The community is invited to visit the project website and view a short video to find out more about how to enter and why the integration of arts into the NSW healthcare system and redevelopment is so important for patient wellbeing and cultural connections.

Health Infrastructure Senior Project Director Goulburn Hospital and Health Service Redevelopment Deirdre Barnes said the Arts in Health program is an opportunity to work with the community and build a strong local connection with the new hospital.

“Please enter the photography competition, it is open to everyone and is a genuine opportunity for people to get involved in the project and have the beauty of the Goulburn-Mulwaree region on display in the new Clinical Services Building for generations to come,” said Ms Barnes.

Health Infrastructure thanks Southern Tableland Arts for their support to the redevelopment’s arts program and collaboration on the video.

About the Goulburn Hospital Redevelopment photographic competition
There are six categories and photographers can enter a maximum of 10 photos, with $500 prize money on offer for the winning entries.

Five of the categories celebrate the district’s native and local flora, specifically Boronia, Wattle, Lilac, Bluebell and Eucalyptus. The flora theme was chosen to incorporate local elements into the new health facility and also provide an atmosphere that is calm and uplifting. The photographs are planned to be displayed at staff stations in the building.

The sixth category is a rainbow theme and the winning photograph will be featured in the hospital’s paediatric unit.

The competition is open to people who are living in, working in or visiting the Goulburn Mulwaree Council, Upper Lachlan Shire and Yass Valley Council Local Government Areas (LGAs). All works submitted for the competition must be original works taken within these LGAs by the person who is entering the competition.

Entries must be submitted by Friday 30 October 2020.

The $150 million Goulburn Hospital and Health Service Redevelopment builds on the NSW Government’s extensive investment in health facilities across the district. The Government has allocated $18.6 million for the Cooma Hospital Redevelopment, $8 million for the redevelopment of Yass Hospital and the new Braidwood Multipurpose Service is part of the Government’s $304 million Multipurpose Service (MPS) Program.
